SUMMARY: Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is back, officially launching its third edition with an exciting press event in Kololo, Kampala. Scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024, this year’s marathon introduces a new 10km route alongside the popular 5km, 21km, and 42km races, offering fresh challenges for all levels of runners. Certified by World Athletics, the event promises to attract global participants and elevate Uganda’s standing in the international running community.

We're excited to announce the official launch of the third Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon! The event kicked off with a lively 5km run/walk through Kololo, setting the stage for the marathon on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
This year, we’re introducing a new 10km route, along with our 5km, 21km, and 42km races. All courses are now certified by World Athletics, making us a globally recognized event.
“The Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon is now truly a global event,” said Matilda Babuleka from title sponsor Uganda Breweries Ltd (UBL).
At the heart of our marathon is a commitment to making a positive impact on the Kasese region. The influx of visitors has revitalized the area, supporting local businesses and the community.

We expect 4,000 participants this year. Join runners from around the world and experience the unique challenge of running at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Amos Wekesa, Director of Equator Hikes (the company behind the marathon), said,
"Seeing our vision come to life is incredibly fulfilling. We’ve grown from 800 runners in the first edition to 2,000 last year. This year, we expect even more."
Early bird registration is UGX 50,000 for East African Community citizens and residents, and USD 50 for international runners before July 1st. Don’t miss out!
